At VALC, we believe in giving back to the community by inspiring the next generation of innovators. Our founder, Valerie Crafton, recognized that the children of today hold the key to solving the challenges of tomorrow. Driven by a desire to address the unconscious biases surrounding STEM careers, Valerie authored the book “That Construction Worker is My Mom.”
This book was created as a tool to engage with young minds in schools, breaking down stereotypes and showing children that anyone, regardless of background or gender, can pursue a career in STEM. Valerie shares her personal journey and encourages students to challenge societal norms, to dream big, and to follow their passions in fields like construction, engineering, and technology.
By reading this book to both boys and girls, Valerie aims to provide exposure to underrepresented careers in STEM, emphasizing that these opportunities are open to all. Through these efforts, we hope to inspire young people to ignore limitations imposed by society and pursue the careers they envision for themselves

At VALC, we believe in giving back to our community in meaningful ways. Our commitment to empowering the next generation through STEM education is embodied in our founder’s children’s book, “That Construction Worker is My Mom.” This inspiring story challenges stereotypes and opens young minds to the possibilities within STEM careers, showing that anyone can achieve greatness in these fields.
But our mission doesn’t stop there. We also give back by volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, where we actively contribute to building homes and communities. This hands-on involvement reflects our dedication to creating a better future, one project at a time. Through both storytelling and service, we are committed to making a lasting impact on the world around us.
